Dear Families, Grade 6 Foreign Language Country Projects: It was wonderful to see so many parents and 6th grade students at last week’s open house for the foreign language country projects. Students acted as guides for their families showing their own work as well as that of their peers. Thank you to Ms. Belkadi, and Ms. Cheng, Ms. Hall for providing this opportunity. Term 2 Ending: Term 2 will officially close at the end of the school day Monday, March 22. Grades are expected to be entered by Thursday, March 24th. The Aspen parent portal is expected to be open

SLASH STARTS TOMORROW!!  Student Leader’s Amazing Scavenger Hunt. Reminder for Students about Appropriate Computer Use:  Student laptops and desktop computers are provided for assigned school tasks only. Online games should not be played during library or study. Students should use those times for completion of school work. Library staff and teachers supervising studies have reported that students need to be redirected to school tasks frequently. Please demonstrate your ability to be good digital citizens. Follow the guidelines, avoiding games, so that computer privileges continue to be available during those times. Do you want to be Principal for the Day? Are you an artist or photographer? Enter the CMS Photo and Drawing Contest and help the fisher and migratory birds at Drumlin Farm. Enter photography or artwork on any of these subjects: nature, wildlife or pets. Submit 8×10 photos or artwork in the box in the main office. Include a donation of $1, $3 or $5. For every entry you will get 1, 3 or 5 tickets. Homeroom with the most entries will get 50 points towards the Homeroom cup. Prizes will be drawn at random – first prize is Principal

Postural Screening will take place during gym classes in both buildings starting on Monday through April 1.  Girls, please wear a sports bra or bathing suit top. If we have specific documentation that screening was done by your MD within the last year, you will be excused from screening. Concord Middle School, and especially the social studies department, would like to congratulate John Griffin (7th grade Sanborn) on winning National Geographic’s Geography Bee at CMS. John Griffin will represent CMS at the State Finals where he will compete against other students, in Massachusetts, who won their school’s Geography Bee. The State Finals will be held on April 1st 2016 at Elms College in Chicopee, MA. Everybody at CMS wishes John the best of luck! Science Olympiad:  On Saturday, March 5, the CMS Science Olympiad Club (The Underwater Bears Curling Team) participated in the Massachusetts State Competition, held at Assumption College in Worcester.  Our team of 10 students participated in 13 events.  Some of our top results are the following: Brian Wirth and Rachel Dettelbach earned 4th place in The Bio Process Lab. Brian Wirth and Rachel Dettelbach earned 3rd place in Disease Detectives.Julia Clarke and Corey Sanderson earned 6th place in Green Generation.Julia Clarke and Corey Sanderson earned 8th place in Picture This.
