Concord Middle School Fall Sports

Fall Sports

Interscholastic Fall Sports:

CMS offers interscholastic field hockey (open to 7th & 8th grade students), Cross-Country (open to ALL students, 6th through 8th), and Girls and Boys Soccer (open to 7th & 8th grade students).  All interscholastic games begin at 3:30 unless otherwise noted. Please see CMS Community Events Google Calendar for schedules.

Fall Season Information:

The fall interscholastic sports season begins the second week of school at Sanborn. This is when try-outs begin for field hockey and both soccer teams happen. (Cuts only happen if the number of students who try-out is greater than the number of roster spots allowed by Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.) There are NO cuts for fall Cross Country.  If a student makes a team, they practice four times each week (no Wednesdays) from 2:30 – 4:30 and compete against other schools. (6th graders who are involved in Cross Country are shuttled over to Sanborn at the end of the school day for their practices and home meets.)  All students (including our Boston area students) have late buses available to them at 4:30pm at the end of their practice.

All students must have a current physical on file in order to participate in interscholastic sports. All interscholastic athletes MUST have a current physical on file with the nurse by the first day of practice/try-outs. All soccer and field hockey players must also hand in to the office a try-outs expectation form on or before 9/9. Once teams are set, all students and parents must complete a head-injury history form as well as an on-line concussion training. This paperwork will be handed out to students and can be downloaded from our website.

Please NOTE the MIAA policy regarding physicals: a physical is “good” for 13 months. If a student’s physical expires mid-season, that child must submit an updated physical in order to play. Students whose physicals expire will be “side-lined” until the new physicals are submitted.
