8th Grade Reminder:  The deadline to sign-up for this year’s Washington Trip is Wednesday, November 30th.  If you still need a registration form, please get one from the Sanborn or Peabody office.  All Parent Information for the trip, except the Registration Form, is available online through the CMS Website.  There is an Information Form that needs to be filled out and turned in by all families going on the trip.   Scholarship forms are due to Mr. Stern at Sanborn by Friday, November 18th.

Math Counts meets every Friday at Sanborn in room 101 from 2:30 to 3:40.  Students who enjoy mathematics prepare for and participate in a regional math tournament solving problems as a team and as individuals. Success can lead to state and national tournaments.  Advisor: Aram Boornazian

Model UN will meet again at Sanborn on Thursday, 11/17 from 2:30-3:40.  We will continue our practice simulation.  At our meeting on Thursday, December 1 we will be assigning countries and topics for the spring 2017 Bentley University Conference .  If you want your first choice, please attend this meeting or have a partner attend (only groups of 2 or 3 allowed).  Please contact Mr. Robbins or Mr. Murphy with any questions.

Make your mark!  Recycle your markers into money for clean drinking water around the world!  

When?  What?  By November 30, bring in dried up markers, pens, & mechanical pencils from home.  A drop off box is located in both Peabody and Sanborn’s libraries, or November 18th-19th during the Lorax Play at Sanborn.

8th Grade Reminder:  The 8th Grade Cookie Dough Sale ends on Friday, November 18th.  All order forms and money must be brought to Ms. Funaki at Peabody or Mr Stern at Sanborn by the end of the day. Late orders CANNOT be accepted.  If you have not picked up the form and information yet, you can get it from Mr. Stern at Sanborn or the front office at Peabody.  The Cookie Dough pick-up is on Friday, December 16th at Sanborn from 2:45 pm until 6:00 pm.  This is the only day for pick-up.

Coats for Kids will meet Wednesday

Student Leaders are selling CMS T-shirts with student designed logos – Get ready for Maroon and Gold Day! We have a limited number of T-shirts available now that will be sold on a “first come, first served” basis.  Once these are sold, we will take orders for additional shirts (orders may not be ready for M&G day). Buy one now while we have them – $20 per shirt; sales support a CMS charity to be voted upon this month. Come to the library or talk to a Student Leader for details.

Girls Who Code is Coming to CMS! Have you ever wondered how apps are created? Are you someone who likes to design, create, find solutions, or make things work? Did you know that understanding coding can help you do all of these things? Founded in 2012, GWC is a nationwide club whose mission is to narrow the gender gap in technology by helping girls learn coding to create, design, solve problems, and have fun doing it. Come to an informational meeting on November 21, 2:30-3:30 pm at Sanborn room 208 to learn more and to share ideas. Regular weekly meetings will be held at Sanborn room 208 on Monday afternoons, 2:30-4:30. Not sure? CMS Presents our Fall Play.  The Lorax and scenes from The Diary of Anne Frank.

Performances are Friday November 18th and Saturday November 19th.

7 pm.  Tickets are $3.00 and are available at the door.

The next Engineers’ Club Saturday field trip to MIT will be on December 3.

This month’s focus will be Physics and will be presented by MIT’s Women of Physics. The bus will leave Sanborn at 9AM and return around 1:30 PM. Lunch can be purchased at the MIT Student Center. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. Pick up a permission slip in the Office for more details.
