November 4, Principal’s Update

Dear CMS Families,

The fixed sign up for Parent Conferences begins on November 7, at 6am.

8th graders interested in attending Minuteman High School will be able to visit and tour the school on November 15th.

Salva Dut, a Sudanese man who fled his village at age eleven, and survived the Second Sudanese Civil War, will be coming to speak with our 7th and 8th graders.  It is our great privilege to welcome Salva to CMS on November 18th.  Our 7th and 8th-grade students have read and studied his life story, A Long Walk to Water.  Last year’s 7th graders completed a persuasive essay as well as a service learning project through which $24,000 was raised for the non-profit organization, Water For South Sudan.  Here is a link to a short video about his life and work.

The CMS Band Program will be holding their annual Fall Informance Concert on November 17th. The Informance Concert serves as a casual introduction for new performers as well as an opportunity for the community and parents to observe an open rehearsal. It’s an exciting opportunity for students to make their learning visible and gather performance experience at the same time. This event has been selected by the Massachusetts Music Educators Association Eastern District as a peer concert this year! Music educators from around the area have been invited to attend to gain ideas that they may bring back to their own programs.
