Principal’s Update, September 2

Hello CMS Families,

It has been awesome to see our buildings filled with smiling enthusiastic students! We have had a great opening to the school year and are already jumping into learning with your children!

A couple of notes for you regarding our opening. We discovered a number of corrupted accounts that prevented students from logging into their computers or opening applications. This is an easy fix requiring our IT folks to clean accounts off the computer and re-enroll students back onto the machine. By the end of today, I expect that 95% of student computers will be up and running.

Students received new copies of their schedules on the first day. We have had to make a few changes to accommodate parent/student requests, balance sections and account for specialized services. We expect these final changes to be completed within the next day or two of school.

I want to pass along a final congratulations to the 2015-2016 Spider Team, a group of students interested in engineering, who investigated the strength of spider webs. These students conducted original research in the mechanics of spider webs and presented their results to the Laboratory for Atomistic and Molecular Mechanics. This summer they were an integral part of the Department’s research team where they conducted additional experiments, presented their findings to the Lab and to visiting Chinese students, the Society of American Military Engineers, and at the International Microscopy and Microanalysis Conference in Columbus. Future research is being planned at CMS and CCHS.
