Summer Reading
You may or may not be aware that research indicates that summer reading helps mitigate the “summer slide” in knowledge and skills. For the past several years we have taken a “one school, one book” approach to summer reading. This year’s summer reading program has been designed to incorporate choice and fun, and it supports our efforts to build a community of reading at CMS. The books that are read and activities completed this summer will lay the groundwork for a school wide “survivor” game that will start when students return in the fall. Watch for information about the CMS Castaways program coming home with your CMS student soon.
Schedules for Fall 7th & 8th Graders
On May 13th I sent out a great deal of information about next year’s schedules. Please be sure to use the error reporting form so that revisions can be made. Once again, final schedules will be posted in mid-August following the Aspen roll-over into the 2016-2017 school year. If you have forgotten your login or password for the Aspen portal, please email parentportal@soncordps.org.
Field Trips and Hold Harmless Forms
Recently we have been provided new forms for our field trips. These forms must be signed by parents of any child who is heading out on a school trip, whether in town or out. Please be sure to sign and return the forms as soon as you get them as we are not able to accept permission via phone or email.
PARCC & MCAS
As you know, Monday is our final day of PARCC/MCAS testing for the year. We will be reviewing the procedures we used this year and revising as necessary to improve the process for everyone.
