January 20, Principal’s Update

Dear CMS Families,

Dr. Denise Pope, of Stanford University, will be speaking at CCHS on Monday, January 23rd. Her talk will address, Nurturing the Well-balanced Student, Debunking the College Myth. Dr. Pope will examine the tension students, teachers, and families may experience surrounding a culture of competition and offer research-based tools for creating a healthier community of learners. We all want our kids to do well in school and to master specific skills and concepts, but a singular focus on academic achievement has resulted in a lack of attention to other components of a successful life—the ability to be independent, adaptable, ethical, and engaged critical thinkers. If interested, please register ahead of time for the free talk.

On February 2nd, CCHS will be holding a Curriculum Night for all parents of 8th grade students residing in Concord and Carlisle. You will receive information about the programs, activities, and climate of the high school. A tour of the high school will be given at 6:00 pm. The program will begin at 7:00 pm in the CCHS Auditorium.
