December 16, Principal’s Update

Dear CMS Families,

I hope everyone is staying warm on these very cold days!

Please encourage your children to dress appropriately for the frigid weather. We will continue to offer outdoor recess as long as it does not get too cold. Students will be strongly encouraged to put on coats, hats, etc. before they go outside.

We are looking at changing our 6th grade Merrowvista program and using another vendor. We will choose a program that will offers us an opportunity to teach our core values and build community over the course of the year rather than a one time event.  Our goal is to create Fall and Spring day-trips as well as an additional Winter in-house event.

We have put the proposed Latin elective on hold for the time being due to budgetary constraints.  Through supplementary funding we hope to be able to offer this to students next year.  If this is achieved, students would have the option to take Latin in addition to Spanish, French or Chinese. Latin would be offered twice a rotation in the 6th and 7th grades and once in 8th grade.
