Monday, November 21-B-Day

7th and 8th graders are invited to sign-up for interscholastic basketball try-outs.  The sign-up sheets are at the office in each building.  All students must have a current physical on file with the nurse and a completed try-outs expectation form handed in to the office before the first try-out on Monday, November 28.  Forms can be downloaded from the website.

On 11/28, boys will try-out at Sanborn from 2:30-4:30.  Girls will tryout at Peabody from 2:30-4:30.  Please see the community events calendar for updates on try-out locations and times.

8th Grade Reminder:  The deadline to sign-up for this year’s Washington Trip is Wednesday, November 30th.  If you still need a registration form, please get one from the Sanborn or Peabody office.  All Parent Information for the trip, except the Registration Form, is available online through the CMS Website.  There is an Information Form that needs to be filled out and turned in by all families going on the trip.  

The next Engineers’ Club Saturday field trip to MIT will be on December 3.

This month’s focus will be Physics and will be presented by MIT’s Women of Physics. The bus will leave Sanborn at 9AM and return around 1:30 PM. Lunch can be purchased at the MIT Student Center. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. Pick up a permission slip in the Office for more details.

Girls Who Code is Coming to CMS! If you are interested in joining GWC or want to know more about it, please complete this short form Girls Who Code Interest and join our introductory meeting Monday, November 21st in Sanborn room 208 from 2:40-3:40pm. Founded in 2012, GWC is a nationwide club whose mission is to narrow the gender gap in technology by helping girls learn coding to create, design, solve problems, and have fun doing it. Updated deadline, Monday am: Water Around the World: Through Monday am, 11/21, make your mark!  Bring in dried up markers, pens, & mechanical pencils from home. They will be recycled through Terracycle and at the same time will make money for clean drinking water around the world!  For every terracycling item received, 2¢ are donated to Charity Water. A drop off box is located in both Peabody and Sanborn’s libraries and main offices. Learn more about Charity Water at https://www.charitywater.org/whywater/.

Monday Is Game Day In The Library: November 19th is International Game Day! Since it falls on a Saturday, help us celebrate on Monday, November 21 –  Stop by the library to play for Boggle, Jenga, checkers, puzzles and more.  A special event is planned for lunches.

The Media AV club’s next meeting will be Thursday,December 1 from 2:30-3:30 in room 102 at Sanborn. Bring a laptop and a sense of humor,  as we will be creating slides to announce each of the school clubs.

New members always welcome to tryout a meeting. Just show up!

Science Olympiad:  Room 108 at Sanborn.  Meetings will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 – 4:30.  If you have any questions, email Ms. Moss at smoss@concordps.org.

Creative Writing meets on Mondays.  We will meet in room 104 from 2:30-3:40. Everyone is welcome!!

Art Club meets again on Monday, from 2:30-3:40 in Ms. Shea’s art room.

The Pokemon Club will meet on Monday, from 2:30-3:30 in the Sanborn FACS room.  It is a fun place to meet and talk to other students who enjoy the game.  We will hold battles and discuss various Pokemon topics.   Bring your DS, 3DS, 5th and 6th generation games and chargers.  Please plan to take the 3:30 late bus or have a parent pick you up at 3:30.  Please see Ms. Cunningham with any questions.
