October Reading Spook-a-thon! Check out a spooky book or mystery, then read, review, and rate it on the DESTINY library catalog to get your name in the cauldron for a halloween drawing. Instructions for reviewing/rating books on Destiny is on our libguide site. Questions? Stop by the library.
The final meeting for Ultimate Frisbee will be this Friday, October 28th
7/8 grade Halloween Dance is on Friday, October 28 from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Sanborn cafeteria. Tickets are $5.00 each and will only be sold at the door. Costumes are welcome!! Please come to school in appropriate costumes (no full masks or fake weapons). Also, there will be a Boston bus leaving @ 9:00 pm going to Franklin Park. Please sign up in the office if you are interested in taking the bus.
Student Leaders are having a Halloween decoration contest! Please bring in any Halloween decorations you have to your homeroom teacher, by Friday, October 28th. We are using these decorations to decorate the homeroom doors, the photo booth, and the dance! The homeroom with the most decorations will earn points that can help your homeroom win the cup at the end of the year. If you would like your decorations back, please label them with your name, and let us know.
Animals and Planet Club next meetings will be 10/26 and 11/9 from 2:30-3:40 in the Sanborn Main Lab (then every other Wednesday). The Animals and Planet club is part of Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots organization. We create and plan projects that make positive changes happen for animals, the environment and our communities. Come with your ideas for this year! Last year we planned the Silent Auction and Photo Contest to help the fisher and migratory birds at Drumlin Farm’s Wildlife Sanctuary (check out animalsandplanet.weebly.com). In past year’s we have also helped NEADS, Buddy Dog and Nevin’s Farm. Contact Ms. Peskin or any member of Animals and Planet with questions. Plan to take the 3:40 late bus or have a parent pick you up at 3:40.
Science Olympiad: Room 108 at Sanborn. Meetings will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 – 4:30. If you have any questions, email Ms. Moss at smoss@concordps.org.
Student Leaders are hosting a Halloween Photo Booth on Friday, the 28th of Oct. during 6th,7th and 8th grade lunch in the cafe. For your chance in the photo booth, please bring $1 to support the charity that the student body will choose later in the year! To get in the Halloween spirit, feel free to wear your costumes to school. All costumes must be school appropriate and no weapons.
Intramural Field Hockey meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30 at Sanborn. Please bring goggles, mouthguards and shin guards to practice.
Flag football meets on Mondays for 6th graders and on Wednesdays for ⅞ graders and Thursday for 6th graders. We will meet on the Sanborn field until 4:30. This is the last week for Flag Football.
Model United Nations will meet again Thursday, Oct 27th in Sanborn Library from 2:30-3:40. Any students is welcome to join the club, grades 6-8. Media Audio Visual Club: The club will meet in Sanborn’s Room 102, every other Thursday, from 2:30-3:30. We will meet Thursday, Oct. 27th. We will learn how to use AV recording equipment, run the microphones and sound for the school assemblies and the musical, and create videos and pictures for the hallway TV screens. Students should stop by the front office for a sign-up form.
Math Team meets every Thursday from 2:30-3:40 in room 205 at Sanborn.
