Principal’s Update June 19, 2016

CMS Principal’s Update         June 19, 2016

Good Evening!

I have just a few short items for you as we head into the final days of the 2015-2016 school year:

2016-2016 Journalism Project

This year we offered a Journalism elective, taught at both buildings by Ms. Bochicchio. Students learned about different types of reporting, the importance of verifying sources, and how to “hook” their audience. The culminating result of their hard work can be found at the link below. Enjoy the articles!

Student Tour Guides Needed!

As you may recall, each summer we recruit current students to lead tours for incoming 6th graders. This year’s  tours will take place August 10 and 16, from 10:00-11:00 am and 5:00-6:00 pm each day. Tours are for students only, and last about an hour. As knowledgeable members of the CMS community, we look to volunteers to show our new 6th graders around the building, help them practice opening combination locks, and answer questions. Interested students should sign-up below by July 1st.

From communication to volunteers, to funding after school activities, to providing gifts that enhance our school and student opportunities, they work tirelessly to help make our school community a better place for all of your children. Please see their End of the Year Report for details of all that they accomplished this year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the supportive community you provide as parents at CMS. I have very much enjoyed my years as CMS Principal, working with students, parents, and teachers to help make the most of this important stage of learning and development. Though middle school is the shortest stay, it involves the most significant changes, and the highs and lows are at once exciting and challenging. It has been my privilege to contribute to the growth and experiences that your children have encountered at CMS. I have learned a lot from them.

Sincerely,

Lynne Beattie, CMS Principal
