Principal’s Update #19 February 21, 2016

Dear Families,

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed the past week together and are ready to get back to learning!

UPDATES:

New CMS Website is Live! Please take a look at https://cms.concordps.org. We will continue to be in transition for a bit; you will notice links that take you to pages on our own site to ensure that you are able to connect to all of the information you need as the site is moved over to the new platform. The site is easily navigable from the menu bar which is organized by category, including links specific to parents and students. If you find broken links or have any difficulty finding what you need, please email Kathy Talbot, our technology integration specialist, at ktalbot@concordps.org.

CMS School Advisory Council Handbook Review: Each year, one of the tasks of the School Advisory Council is to review and update the school handbook. This year the pages to be reviewed are pages 1-33. If you have any thoughts about the content and clarity, or have questions, please email me. SAC will begin the review at this week’s meeting, Thursday, February 25, 6:00-7:30 pm in the Sanborn library.

For 8th Grade Families: This week you will receive letters from 8th grade teachers regarding course recommendations for 9th grade. The mailing will include the following:

  • Student scores and the placement recommendations for courses with multiple levels, English. Foreign Language, math and Science: Contact the classroom teacher with any questions. Please adhere to due dates for returning the forms.
  • Information on how to use the Aspen portal to view course recommendations. This the same portal you access to view CMS grade reports each trimester. Course recommendations will be viewable later this week.CMS counselors will be working with students to enter course requests during the first week of March.

Reminder: CCHS Program of Studies Night and Tour is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd at 6:00 pm. If you have questions about the high school program, this is a great opportunity to get answers. In addition, the CCHS Program of Studies can be found on their Guidance Department website; from there, link to COURSES AT CCHS.
