Philosophy & Expectations

The Physical Education department has a primary commitment to providing an active and varied exercise program that supports the physical, social and emotional growth of the students. The Physical education department encourages all students to develop physical interests that they will pursue outside the framework of formal education. In PE classes students’ will experience a high degree of individual success and be challenged at the same time.

Physical Education at the Middle School provides students the opportunities to participate in a variety of individual, team and fitness activities. These activities are designed to interest the students in activities they might perform in their leisure time and to teach the students the importance of personal fitness and to maintain a healthy body throughout their lifetime. The students will also learn how to work within the “team” concept toward a common goal.

Classes are structured with a relaxed atmosphere to lesson inhibitions that may prevent participation. The basic philosophy of physical education at CMS is “to turn students on to physical activity”. Our aim is to have students feel good about themselves when they are physically active and to develop a desire to participate in more physical activities.

Golden Rules:

  • Respect your classmates. Treat others as you want to be treated.
  • Be prepared and on time for class.
  • Be actively engaged in class everyday. Success of the class depends on group interaction and 100% participation from everyone.
  • Spirit of the game. The PE Department stresses sportsmanship and fair play. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players.
