Concord Middle School Fall 2023 Interscholastic Sports

Please note: Please stay close to the CMS Daily Announcements Page everyday for updates to the information found below. The information below may change, and this page may not be updated.

Note: Interscholastic sports are sports where students make a four day a week commitment, and where students play other middle schools in the surrounding area. Concord Middle School also has available intramural sports that are less of a commitment, and are much more informal where CMS students play other CMS students. To learn more about the intramural sports program, please visit our After School Activities Page. To learn more about our Interscholastic Fall Sports Program, please read below.

CMS Interscholastic Fall Sports More Information:

There are NO cuts for fall Cross Country. Cuts only happen in Field Hockey and soccer if the number of students who try-out is greater than the number of roster spots allowed by Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

If a student makes a team, they practice four times each week (no Wednesdays) from 2:30 – 4:30 and compete against other schools. (6th graders who are involved in Cross Country are shuttled over to Sanborn at the end of the school day for their practices and home meets.)  All students (including our Boston area students) have late buses available to them at 4:30pm at the end of their practice.

All students must have a current physical on file in order to participate in interscholastic sports. All interscholastic athletes MUST have a current physical on file with the nurse by the first day of practice/try-outs.  Once teams are set, all students and parents must complete a head-injury history form as well as an on-line concussion training. This paperwork will be handed out to students and can be downloaded from our website.

Please NOTE the MIAA policy regarding physicals: a physical is “good” for 13 months. If a student’s physical expires mid-season, that child must submit an updated physical in order to play. Students whose physicals expire will be “side-lined” until the new physicals are submitted.
